    dresserloveHave you read this? Yes? Then you already know I want this dresser in my bedroom. Pronto! I am head over heels in love with the combo of clean lines and wood variety! Not only did Apartment Therapy feature a rad dresser, but in the same article, 8 steps to organizing said dresser. Sigh. Life is good to me and you.

    {PS. Wis Design created the featured dresser. Check out their site. Tons of cool pieces!}

  • Living, Etc… For Yer Walls.

    June 16th, 2009

    There’s a little home to-do project that the boy and I have been neglecting for some time now. The way our home is laid out, we really only have one hallway, leading to the bathroom and then the back door. Our thought: frame photos and miscellaneous art in a very cool and very eye-catching arrangement. {Of course.} Well, we’re sort of there, but the space definitely needs some attention. I decided to take a wander over to Living, Etc for some ideas.

  • Getting Down & Clean.

    Since I’ve already shared with you my creepy love for organizing, I’ll skip past the details of how unbelievably excited I was when I first saw these pictures! I’m talking high-fives and hoo-haas people!

    I would just melt in my desk chair if given that wooden thread holder. Obviously functional and quite pleasing to the eyes with all those glorious colors on display, it’s going on my wish list right now!organize-deskorganize-details-desk1

    And don’t forget to check out that cabinet! I already have about five of those fabric bins. Why have I not thought of moving them from the bedroom closet to the office closet by now? Oh, my poor, neglected office closet. I know I promised you some much needed sweet TLC. With a trip to Ikea {shelving needed in a major way}, you’ll be fixed up in no time! Stay tuned!

    June 10th, 2009

    Found at Once Wed, this DIY Party Banner is so simple and so much cooler than pre-made, pre-packaged party banners. I’ve got a little {BIG!} fundraiser BBQ coming up that will definitely need some LARGE LETTERS! With a little bit of a 1-2-3, I’ll have myself a nifty lil’ party decoration, and so can you! Congrats!

    { Supplies Needed: printed card stock . letter templates . scissors . pencil . mini clothespins . jute twine }

    I love clean, bold type. Nothing new there. Did you also know I’ve always had a fascination with sets of drawers that resemble library catalog card drawers? All those tiny, cute boxes for organizing the schlew of stuff one can accumulate. It’s another corner of heaven for me. So naturally when I discovered Kent and London’s Alphabet Drawers, my heart did a little dance to the beat of pitter patter.

    Inspired by vintage printing blocks, this beautifully finished chest of 26 drawers is made from solid oak, the perfect place to file everything from A-Z! The Alphabet chest of drawers stands around waist height! So rad.

    * Found Kent and London thanks to Orange Yo Yo. Thanks yo!

  • Jewelry Making 101

    June 8th, 2009

    I’m thinking of purchasing some goodies from this jewelry crafting shop, Supplies You Need. All I {or you} need is some rose cabochons, earring posts & butterfly nuts, and super glue.

    red-rose-earrings

    How sweet are these earrings?!

    All you have to do is put a dot of superglue on the back of the rose and attach the earring post. So quick! So easy! Just think of the gifting possibilities.

    I’m a fan.

  • If you’re happy and you know it…..

    June 5th, 2009

    I’m a bit of a blog whore. About a year or so ago, by accident I found my first blog. I actually don’t even remember whose blog it was, but what I do know is that ever since then, I’ve been addicted. Most people will feature a list of fellow bloggers they’re crazy about on their own blog. This is where the maze begins. I’ll be reading a blog and then to the right {or sometimes left} my eye will read a fancy, catchy title for another blog. So I click on it. And read. And then I see, again, another fancy, catchy blog title. And the pattern begins. This can go on for hours on end. At first I was a bit ashamed of the time I was logging on the internet. Now, I just love it! I have found sewing patterns, food recipes, inspirational thoughts, silly faces kids make, and words to add to my unpublished dictionary.

    Today, I discovered Orangette. Molly Wizenberg started her blog in 1994 because of two loves: writing & food. Five years later, she has a well-known blog, a monthly column in Bon Appetit, and a husband {who she met through her site!}. How do I know all this? Because I ALWAYS read the “About Me” sections of sites and blogs. It’s just so interesting to discover how people view their self. Molly’s view is no exception. Among her list of FAQ’s, is this blurb:

    I left a mean or rude comment, and it was deleted. Why?
    This site may be a public space, but it is also an extension of me and of my home. The Internet can sometimes feel like a good place to anonymously air one’s discontents, but meanness is no more welcome here than it would be if we were sitting together on the couch in the living room. I ask that you post only words that you would feel perfectly comfortable saying aloud to me in person, and I reserve the right to delete any comment that is hurtful or nasty.

    Okay really, how perfect is that?! A few weeks ago, an anonymous someone left a rather unpleasant comment on my personal blog. After reading the above, I deleted their words and I don’t feel guilty. Thanks for that Molly! And thanks for your blog post for Carrot Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting, and the recipe to go with it. cake
