  • Sneak Peak : HAPPY BABY!

    July 29th, 2009

What an exciting and miraculous day today is! Today, one of my best friends, Kendra along with her husband Chris and 17 month old daughter Amelia, will welcome a new beautiful baby girl into the world! A sincere note of Congratulations is definitely in order to the twice-over happy family!

Do you also know someone cooking a tater tot in the oven or has just recently silenced the oven timer? I bet you do. I advise sending gifts to the mom…. gifts of bubble baths and champagne {or maybe just some Perrier and raspberries}. She’s earned it!

PS} I’ve oh-so-conveniently designed a simple, but super fun “Happy Baby” note card {for both boy or girl} to include with gift to mom! To see details of this note and to purchase, follow this link and this link! Happy shopping!

  • Type Thursday : Ali Edwards

    July 23rd, 2009

I’ve been a huge fan of Ali Edwards for quite a while. Her work is truly inspiring and she seems like a genuinely wonderful person. On top of that, her handwriting is the bomb, and she’s been kind enough to make it a free typeface! Now race off and download it here as soon as you can!

  • A Few of my Favorite Things Foods

    July 22nd, 2009

For most of my life, I’ve dined on vegetarian foods but as of late, I’ve definitely stepped outside those lines. I’m now eating fish and chicken. Not a lot mind you, but it’s there alright. I’ve never been a fan of red meat. That is unless I end up getting some kooky craving when I’m pregnant one day. I’ve heard that happens! Anyway, after finding this photographer, I found myself rethinking my breakfasts, lunches, and dinners.

  • Craft Fair Galore

    July 21st, 2009

A couple of weeks ago, I told you I was planning on visiting the Renegade Craft Fair in LA. Well I did and it was amazing! Unfortunately my camera died {thanks to my abundant picture taking while visiting Indiana}, so I only have a few images to share with you. Hey, better some than none right? Here’s a mini tour…..

img_2338The Weekend Store is super cool! Adjowah Brodie is the creative force behind this company. She designs and creates her thoughtfully handmade line of recycled vintage accessories in her sunny Oakland studio while her lil pup Buck catches a tan on the back deck. It’s true. She wrote that in her bio! My two favorite pieces: the vintage typewriter key necklaces and the watch part necklaces. So inspiring!

img_2339Come 3 o’clock in the afternoon, I heard the most beautiful chaos. LA based jazz-punk mobile ensemble, Killsonic proved to be an epic show during a penthouse-shaking, hour long performance! Because every craft fair deserves a live marching band.

img_2340My boyfriend came running to me with such excitement when he discovered Bug House. After making my way to their booth, I instantly understood why. They use images of old music album spines and create wall art and even furniture pieces. I have never seen anything like it before and definitely would love to own one of their pieces. Kuddos to Jeff & Rebecca!

img_2346What do I say about Campfire Goods? Basically, they’re pretty darn cool! How can they not be? Their goal: “We are three graphic designers/illustrators/printmakers who are looking to spread state and city pride worldwide! We are all from somewhere and it’s time we show some hometown pride! We’ve always felt that there are three main areas of concentration in our shirts…Good Typography, Good Design, and Good Humor!” See. Pretty darn cool!

So in a nutshell, that’s my experience at the Renegade. Well that times 50! It was my first time checking out Renegade and I think I’ll definitely be back, maybe as a browser or maybe as a vendor. Only time will tell.

Speaking of time, you can bet your sweet behind that come next August, I will be in attendance at the Urban Craft Uprising in Seattle! It’s another crazy-big, crazy-creative craft fair in one of my crazy-favorite cities! If you read this and you end up going next month, send me a note! I’d love to hear all about the fun time I know you’re going to have! Until next year rolls around, you can find me at the sewing machine!
